Poseidon is the god of the sea, earthquakes and horses. He is not only the god of the sea but is also the protector of all waters. Poseidon can easily manipulate water, storm and lighting. He is one of the twelve supreme gods of Mount Olympus, and spent most of his time in his watery domain. Zeus and Hades are his brothers. He is also the biological father of Orion, Polyphemus, Pelias, and many others including half-blood mortals. Sailors relied upon him for safe passage during an exile on the ocean, he was worshipped in connection with navigation.
Our Poseidon statue has the trident, the weapon of the God of the Sea, which has been the traditional divine attribute featured in many ancient illustrations, while worshipped for his power and influence. The trident is three-prolonged spear crafted by three Cyclopes. He could strike the ground using the trident to produce a great earthquake. This makes him the named as the “Earth-shaker”. Poseidon also means “husband” in Greek making him a fertility god.
