The Veiled Maiden Bust Statue (The Bride) - Veined & Polished
Qty:
Also known as the veiled bride or veiled maiden, this sculpture was originally created in England by the Italian sculptor Raphaelle Monti, and it is now exhibited in Chatsworth House, Derbyshire. After exhibiting at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, Monti soon earned recognition as a leading sculptor with his commission for the 6th Duke of Devonshire, the "Veiled Vestal", a statue with illusionistic veil, a specialism of his.
In 1875 the Duke gave the famous Copeland Factory permission to reproduce this subject in Parian ware (porcelain imitating marble), and Copeland commissioned Monti to re-create this bust for them. This re-created bust, cast in Parian porcelain by Copeland and originally titled "The Bride", became soon one of the most popular Parian busts ever produced.
